Axiom & Serpentina Vended Product Production Planner - Alpharetta, GA

Under the direction of the Axiom & Serpentina Supply Chain Manager, the Site Production Planner is responsible for scheduling all production processes at the facility. This position will work closely with the Axiom / Serpentina Supply Chain Manager to drive key goals, metrics, and customer satisfaction.

 

Areas of responsibility include:

 

CUSTOM MANUFACTURING / VENDOR MANAGEMENT

  • Primarily focused on outsourced products and processes (vended products).
  • Responsible for vendor relationships and holding vendors accountable to quality and delivery expectations.
  • Coordinate custom projects across multiple groups (customer service, sales, CAD team, and vendors).
  • Excellent communication within the project team and other business departments is essential
  • Familiar with custom product estimating and quoting.
  • Pricing quotes for identified custom projects on other needed operations like slotting, punching, etc.
  • Assist in NPD through the planning process of newly manufactured items and any required item creation.
  • Manage an inventory of light fabricated extrusions to align with stocking strategy set forth by SCM.
  • Coordinate required transportation with multiple vendors using 3rd party carrier.

PRODUCTION PLANNING

  • Production planner will be responsible appropriately allocate both machine and human capacities to service Make to Order and Make to Stock business. 
  • Responsible for the creation and communication of the daily manufacturing production schedule to the production team, primarily focused within the fabrication and assembly work cells).
  • Act as the main communication channel between the production team and the customer service team in regards to open order status, estimated completion times, and current back log (lead time). Primarily focused on Make to Order Aluminum Extrusions and stocked finished goods.
  • Assist Axiom & Serpentina Supply Chain Manager in creation of monthly production plan for assigned work cells.
  • Work with the Alpharetta Cell Leaders to establish and continually update work cell production rates.

 

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

  • Assist in daily reviews of new orders to ensure raw material inventory availability as they pertain to the production facility.
  • Responsible for ordering and acquiring raw materials / finished goods for the assigned work cell.
  • Track, verify, and reconcile raw materials and vended products at all locations.
  • Responsible for maintaining fill rate within all assigned work cells by ensuring on-time shipment.
  • Participate in annual physical inventory and any mandatory preparation efforts.
  • Participate in Base Stock Analysis for inventory stocking levels at least semi-annually as they pertain to your assigned work cells.
  • Required to maintain system and inventory accuracy.

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • ERP key end user & resource.
  • Interpretation of CAD and engineering drawings as they relate to custom projects.
  • Product cost negotiation.
  • Create new SKU numbers for both Raw Materials and Finished Goods as well as associated BOM and routings.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to and visit vendors to evaluate capability and assist in establishing key processes.

 

Education/Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Logistics, Operations, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or Business required
    • Commensurate experience will be considered in lieu of Bachelors degree
  • 1-3 years supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment required
    • Functional expertise in current supply chain concepts, practices and procedures
    • Ability to analyze business scenarios for sales, operations and procurement
  • Ability to work at both a tactical and strategic level
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical and presentation skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of staff throughout the facilities
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a time sensitive environment
  • LEAN Implantation desired, LEAN participation required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other procurement software/tools (ERP/MRP)
