The estimated base salary range for this role is 41,5000 to 50,500 per year.  
Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors

Process Engineer Intern

Armstrong Building Products (ABP), a division of Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI), has a job opportunity for a Process Engineer Intern/coop to be located at our plant in Hilliard, OH. Under the direction of the Technical Services Manager, the Process Engineer Intern/coop will be responsible for providing focused technical support and leadership to the plant Value Streams for the development and implementation of effective systems and continuous process improvement activities that ensure the manufacturing processes perform to their maximum cability in a safe and cost-effective manner.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Process Engineer Intern:

  • Investigating and executing critical manufacturing process improvement projects
  • Ensuring compliance of product attributes to technical specifications and requirements
  • Process optimization, root cause analysis and driving scientific, engineering, and Lean principles into a fast-paced industrial manufacturing facility
  • Writing the test requests, observing the test runs, directing experimental process adjustments during tests, evaluating test results, writing reports, and recommending and initiating subsequent action to be taken
  • Serving as project leader, manager, and 'doer' of projects including cost reduction, new product development, energy utilization, sustainment and process improvement projects.
  • Driving practical knowledge of science and technology into all levels of the manufacturing organization for improved plant performance
  • Leading cross functional teams to achieve improvement objectives, and monitor daily operations to find improvement opportunities
  • Working with production operators, Team Leads, VSS, VST and other technical support staff in hands on troubleshooting of technical problems
  • Providing technical expertise and leadership in applying process improvement tools such as Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing principles

Required Qualifications of the Process Engineer:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Engineering or Science, preferably chemical engineering
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, cumulative and within major
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-starter with a strong ability to multi-task and juggle multiple responsibilities
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office

 

Desired Qualifications of the Process Engineer:

  • Previous engineering internship experience
  • Previous manufacturing experience

About the Location (Hilliard OH)

Our Hilliard Plant, one of twelve Armstrong plants in North America, employs 100+ people across multiple shifts who are involved in the manufacturing and shipping of acoustical ceiling tile.  The Hilliard plant prides itself in placing high priority on safety, quality and exceeding customer expectations.
