As Materials Planner, you will be responsible for reviewing jobs to ensure technical feasibility and technical execution of all raw material procurement. You will also ensure that the execution of outsourcing activities is performed in compliance with inventory levels and customer expectations (expected lead time).

 

In addition, you will provide technical assistance to the Plant Operations, Construction Services, and the Metal’s Business teams and will be accountable for overseeing plant purchasing systems and cycle count processes for raw materials and WIP.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Engaging Construction Services and Plant Operations teams on a proactive basis and provide them with technical information on upcoming custom jobs
  • Supporting production plans and inventory targets by executing daily and weekly materials planning, releasing purchase orders, and managing inventory
  • Owning the plant purchasing function and ensuring all processes are managed in accordance with company policy
  • Processing requests and manages records for vendor set-up and maintenance. 
  • Conducting monthly/annual inventory counts, tracking cycle count discrepancies and adjustments, and identifying areas for improvements
  • Partnering with Corporate Procurement to align vendors and best practice procedures
  • Collaborating with production and project manager in project reviews
  • Creating, updating, and maintaining standard work process documentation
  • Processing invoices and exceptions in invoice processing
  • Resolving invoice discrepancies, blocked invoices, open order reports, and other purchasing issues
  • Owning inventory process: physical inventory, cycle counting, audits, and reconciliation
  • Developing and maintaining supplier relationships while analyzing supplier quality, capability, capacity, service, and costs
  • Leading improvement activities to reduce usage and waste identified by raw material and/or goods in process cycle counts
  • Providing weekly list of open purchase orders

  • Strong analytical and math skills
  • Robust computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and web-based applications
  • Understanding of Lean concepts such as “First in – First Out”, “Just-in-time”, and Kanban
  • Ability to respond with a positive attitude to changing demands and conditions

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Information Systems, Business Administration, Logistics, or related, OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization structure (preferred)
