As a Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for effective coordination and supervision of production activities at the Johnstown plant. A successful candidate will provide management, coordination, and continuous improvement for all aspects of manufacturing, including safety culture, quality processes, schedule adherence, manpower, and product development initiatives. You will be accountable for meeting objectives in the areas of safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Safety
- Maintaining safety awareness through active employee engagement and positive reinforcement
- Drive good housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe work environment, striving for 5S
- Timely reporting of all near misses and first aid events, encouraging good catches, risk assessments, and root cause elimination
Quality
- Ensure quality and compliance of product to technical specifications and requirements
- Audit quality systems to ensure compliance to prescribed
- Collaborate with Quality to communicate customer feedback to the workforce, implement corrective actions, and improve overall plant quality systems
- Co-own NCR process
Delivery
- Provide overall supervision for Johnstown’s manufacturing processes
- Managing performance of production employees by providing performance feedback, guidance, and hands-on support
- Administer discipline and positive feedback where necessary and appropriate
- Collaborate with Logistics and Operations to manage daily scheduling and sequencing of product workflow for plant value streams
- Use of Kronos workforce management to assign schedules, approve time-off, and ensure correct time allocation to jobs
Cost
- Recommend quality and operational efficiency improvements
- Implement Lean manufacturing principles
- Collaborating with Facility and Maintenance Supervisor to develop and improve preventive maintenance on machinery
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervisory Responsibility for 2nd shift Operations (3 PM -1:15 AM) with carry-over as necessary
- Manage work of all 2nd shift, hourly associates, shifting labor between work cells as demand and shipments dictate
Travel:
- 10% or less travel required
Qualifications
- Ability backfill Fabrication Manager
- Knowledge of Turret, Brake, Punch, and Stamping Presses a plus
- Previous experience with software such as Excel, Word, SAP, Kronos
- Thorough knowledge of plant business system processes, such as raw material flow, project planning, production work cells
- Working knowledge of process improvement methods
- Technical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, DMAIC, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 8 Step Problem-Solving desired

- Office Environment – This position operates in a professional office environment and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. No PPE is required.
- Plant Environment – This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to extreme cold and hot temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords, tools and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty or dirty conditions. Required PPE includes: Hard hat (when required), safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe/composite boots, and fall protection.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree, technical degree, or equivalent experience in first-line supervision with an emphasis on process improvement
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Leadership Experience
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in a Metal Fabrication Environment
- Experience in a highly custom job shop environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish
