Our Architectural Specialties team is currently on the lookout for a Strategic Sourcing Manager at our headquarters in Lancaster, PA. As Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will also play a large role in the development of AWI's evolving sourcing strategy, supplier performance metrics, supply risk evaluation and mitigation, and contract development and negotiation.

 

You will also be responsible for evaluating potential suppliers for new products, managing supplier relationships during New Product Development (NPD), obtaining and evaluating bids and new supply agreements, and for overseeing cost/process improvement projects with our suppliers. 

 

Responsibilities of the Strategic Sourcing Manager:

  • Manage and develop New Product sourcing strategies
  • Negotiate with suppliers regarding service levels, quality, and price
  • Develop strategic business relationships and establish trust and partnerships with suppliers,
  • Assess supply market of contract specialty manufacturing capabilities that enhance our competitive positions or build additional manufacturing capacity for successful products
  • Lead project teams to determine lead times, inventory strategies, and minimum order quantities
  • Translate AWI Architectural Specialties quality standards into effective screening methods for potential suppliers; oversee preparation of all supply chain activities
  • Manage and develop supply models for all product introductions
  • Lead efforts on requests for information, proposals, and quotations
  • Develop cost models and ranges for project teams throughout NPD cycle
  • Identify and evaluate suitable suppliers; establish and nurture overseas supplier relationships
  • Collaborate with Department Director on supply agreements, negotiation, and renewals
  • Identify contract manufacturers who possess required equipment and processes
  • Provide NPD project managers with insight to gain understanding of successful supply processes
  • Ensure all product options are well-tested, understood, and documented during NPD launches
  • Develop all master data requirements to successfully manage new product supply
  • Collaborate with Quality and Supply Planning leaders and partners to identify supply chain risks and initiate projects where appropriate to mitigate these risks
  • Lead evaluations of Make versus Buy and Stock versus Make to Order strategies
  • Act as primary driver within team for identification and delivery of material cost-saving projects
  • Eliminate road blocks and challenges to deliver savings projects on time

 

Required Qualifications and Education of the Strategic Sourcing Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related
  • 10+ years of experience with supplier management, procurement, supply planning, plant operations, technical services, and project management
  • Proven record of driving change and delivering results
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Access
  • Superior data reporting and analysis skills
  • Ability to analyze, draw conclusions, articulate, summarize, and present complex information, particularly as it relates to quantitative and qualitative evaluation of manufacturing and packaging options

 

Preferred Qualifications of the Strategic Sourcing Manager:

  • Six Sigma and Process Improvement skills
  • SAP experience
  • Global sourcing experience
