The estimated base salary range for this role is 70,000 to 105,000 per year.  
Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors

As our EH&S Environmental Specialist, you will be responsible for leading environmental compliance and driving key sustainability initiatives in the manufacturing setting. You will also play a key role in contributing to Safety compliance and risk reduction. 


What you’ll be doing

  • Preparing and submitting regulatory filings required by local, state, and federal agencies including EPA and GA EPD 
  • Establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with Corporate EHS staff, contract consultants, and regulatory agencies  
  • Establishing sustainable processes in conjunction with Operations 
  • Compiling internal reporting requirements in a timely manner 
  • Managing the Wastewater Treatment function  
  • Attending daily site meetings to present Environmental data and request resources as needed 
  • Establishing and maintaining regulatory files in accordance with corporate guidelines 
  • Producing effective routine plant communication and training 
  • Identifying and executing Environmental and Sustainability improvement opportunities

  • Ability to meet Key Performance Indicators and other Performance Objectives 
  • Solid document management and recordkeeping approach with ability to leverage technology to maintain process improvements, accuracy, and efficiency 


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting 


Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work with production operations
  • Proficiency to support compliance reports and plant communication (Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Teams, QCS, AutoCad, regulatory sites)

About the location (Macon GA)

Our Macon Plant, one of twelve Armstrong plants in North America, employs over 400 people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers.  Located approximately 85 miles south of Atlanta, the Macon facility has 33 acres under one roof, or 1.5 million square feet of floor space.  It is the largest ceiling tile factory in the world.  The operations are complex, automated, use the latest modern management technology, and manufacture a wide range of commercial and residential ceiling products.

Macon, also known as the "Cherry Blossom Capital of the World", is in the heart of Georgia and marks a historical crossroads in the south.
