Armstrong World Industries (AWI) is seeking a Production Team Manager to join our Production team in Marietta, PA. The Production Team Manager will mainly be responsible for the design and implementation of raw material and manufacturing systems that enables continuous process improvement within the Flexline Operation.  Additionally, the Production Team Manager will be responsible for initiating and leading significant process improvement activities, including, but not limited to, changes involving raw material utilization, mechanical, electrical, chemical and human elements. 

 

As Production Team Manager, your assignments are of significant scope and complexity and frequently involve production machinery, processes, procedures, systems, and policies that have a significant impact on plant profitability. While driving change, you will interact with Plant Supervisors, including Maintenance, Production, QA, Engineering and the Lab. 

 

 Responsibilities of the Production Team Manager:

  • Display a commitment to all parts of the AWI Safety System
  • Keep yourself and your crew 100% compliant in all required safety training
  • Execute the Accident and Environmental Reporting Procedure as needed
  • Notify appropriate management personnel regarding any incidents and accidents
  • Develop and administer action plans for high risk employees
  • Ensure all material shipped to customers meets quality specifications
  • Identify and implement maintenance and process improvement ideas
  • Ensure standard settings and standard operating procedures are being used and followed
  • Oversee completion of process checks, board inspections, and whiteboard and manufacturing system entries
  • Follow-up on scrap RCFA's (root cause failure analysis) and quality hold events to ensure they are complete
  • Ensure timeliness of operator maintenance and follow-up on downtime RCFA's to ensure they are complete
  • Schedule your crew to minimize overall cost to the department.
  • Manage crew training and ensure cross training and skill depth of associates.
  • Track employee incidents and issues, coach/mentor your employees, follow-up on and resolve issues that your people identify to you.
  • Establish periodic one-on-one feedback sessions with the operators

 

Required Qualifications and Education of the Production Team Manager:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical field (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering), business, or related field or commensurate experience
  • Ability to work rotating shift work including night and weekends

 

Preferred Qualifications of the Production Team Manager:

  • 3+ years of relevant technical, manufacturing, or operation experience in ceilings manufacturing industry or similar continuous manufacturing operation
  • Knowledge and practical experience applying Lean Manufacturing or process improvement principles to enable organizational transformation
  • Proven ability to implement and audit systems to achieve manufacturing results
  • Prior supervisory experience in a union environment
