Required Qualifications:

Must be able to work safely on a variety of manufacturing equipment.

Must be able to perform heavy duty work.

Must be available to work at any time, day (including weekends) and rotating shifts.

Must be able to get to work on time and have reliable good attendance

Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment (hot, cold, dusty, etc.).

Must be able to work overtime if needed.


Must be able to read, write, and use measuring devices.


Must be able to communicate effectively with others, both verbal and written.

Must be willing to take training to develop process and quality knowledge.

Must be able to safely operate mobile equipment (Fork Lift Truck).

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer candidates with prior industrial manufacturing work experience.


Prefer High School Diploma or GED.




Primary Duty:

Perform all types of electrical installations and repairs as well as maintain, repair, test, and calibrate all types of instruments


Working Procedure:

Install, maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems including: installing conduit and wirings, motors, instrumentation, recording devices, starters, and temporary wiring setups.  Diagnose problems and take corrective action.  Maintain and repair plant instrumentation.


Have complete knowledge of all current and voltage characteristics such as single phase, 3 phase, 110v, 220v, 440, 12.5kv  and d.c. voltage.  Have working knowledge of solid state circuitry and programmable controllers.  Develop wiring diagrams as necessary.  Use precision instrumentation such as voltmeter, ammeter, megger, wattmeter, etc. 


Repair, maintain, test and calibrate instrumentation and equipment of various types including flow meters, thermocouples, HMI, laboratory control instruments, loop controllers, PLC and process control and related networks, page phones, radios, chart recorder, labeling equipment including POD and ink jet (e.g. VideoJet) equipment, servo motors and systems and various other forms of electrical / electronic equipment.  Initiate, lead and design small projects as directed.


Able to work with various PC programs and operating systems.  Excellent time management, communications, decision making, human relations and organization skills. Able to resolve problems in a timely manner.  Requisition and obtain materials to complete jobs.  Maintain records and inventory of supplies necessary for performance of job.  Mentor apprentices and other people as necessary.  Assist in energy related work as necessary.


Maintain personal work tools.  Maintain records associated with the job.  Have knowledge of National Electric Code, NFPA 70E and other applicable safety and industry codes.  Complete time cards.  Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical devices and other equipment.  Scheduled hours could include shift work.  Participate on teams as opportunities arise.  Perform other related miscellaneous duties as required.

About the Location (Newark, OH)

Our Tectum manufacturing plant, one of seven Armstrong ceiling plants in North America, employs approximately 100 people across 2 shifts who are involved in the manufacturing and shipping of our Tectum product.   With over 60 years of innovation and experience in reducing noise worldwide, our Tectum plant has the right product for your noise problem.
