Armstrong World Industries is currently seeking a Logistics Planner to be located in Newark, OH. As Logistics Planner, you will mainly be responsible for the effective planning and scheduling of goods in process and finished stock for the Tectum plant. You will also be tasked with overseeing inventory flow and with meeting and exceeding all customer service objectives.  

 

Your duties as Logistics Planner will also involve identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing them to planning and scheduling processes. To be successful in this role, it is required to collaborate heavily with customer service, corporate logistics, production planning, and plant production department to understand demand forecasts, manufacturing constraints, and customer needs.

 

Responsibilities of the Logistics Planner:

  • Ensure safe behavior and performance for plant personnel through adherence to all regulatory requirements and plant safety policies
  • Complete daily processing of production orders for manufacturing and in various systems
  • Monitor and adjusts schedules, raw materials, and GIP daily
  • Maintain accurate planned production in master scheduling file and Epicor
  • Develop end item schedules based on customer service policies, forecast and actual demands, established manufacturing parameters (i.e., repetitive cycle analysis and run size), and current inventory and order balance levels
  • Maintain GIP inventory and determine and implement disposition of excess GIP items
  • Communicate with Customer Focus Center regarding requests for improvements to shipping dates
  • Provide direction to Logistics/Specials Coordinator about special order promises to customers
  • Create and deliver forecasts to ensure accurate ordering of raw materials and packaging
  • Manage finished stock odd-lot and slow-moving SKUs.

 

Required Qualifications and Education of the Logistics Planner:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR High School Diploma/GED and 3+ years of experience in production planning and inventory management
  • Strong skills in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint

 

Preferred Qualifications of the Logistics Planner:

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with SAP and proficiency with logistics software packages such as Epicor
  • Knowledge of Lean tools and methodology

About the Location (Newark, OH)

Our Tectum manufacturing plant, one of seven Armstrong ceiling plants in North America, employs approximately 100 people across 2 shifts who are involved in the manufacturing and shipping of our Tectum product.   With over 60 years of innovation and experience in reducing noise worldwide, our Tectum plant has the right product for your noise problem.
