Armstrong World Industries (AWI) is currently seeking a Commercial Solutions Manager within our Architectural Specialties department. This position is based in the ChicagoLand area as an outside sales position and reports directly to the Regional Commercial Solutions Manager.  The position will be responsible for managing the Architectural Specialties product line on the largest & most significant projects within West Central Region focusing on increasing both sales and profitability.

 

AWI is a leader in manufacturing and marketing acoustical ceilings and suspension systems for commercial and residential applications. The business mix is nearly 90-percent commercial, with approximately two-thirds in improvement projects and the balance in new construction, which includes offices, healthcare, education, retail, transportation and other segments.  The residential market, more than 10-percent, is primarily in home improvement and remodeling projects.  AWI is the most geographically diverse business at Armstrong, supported by regional manufacturing and local sales organizations in North, Central & South America.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying key projects early in design (pre-planning/schematics stages), owning & driving these projects from concept to order closure/final installation to insure a positive Total Customer Experience.
  • Works closely with Project Architects, Design Build Contractors, General Contractors/Construction Managers, Developers, and Owners to create unique and differentiated specifications that enable value added Armstrong solutions for our customers.  
  • Focus on winning at every stage of the project by leveraging design services within the You Inspire Solutions Center, pre-engineered integrated solutions, construction expertise and broad portfolio of ceiling & wall solutions. 
  • Integrate with the Area Sales Manager and the local sales teams in their designated areas to capture Armstrong comprehensive line of solutions (core ceilings, core grid, AS and specialty grid), thereby supporting our growth strategy of selling more into every space and selling into more spaces.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • College degree is required
  • Minimum 5 years commercial building product sales experience, preferably in interior product finishes.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple relationships and priorities.
  • Working knowledge/experience of the architectural design process, commercial construction, contracting and distribution.
  • Team player oriented - motivated to achieve own objectives, but puts highest priority on team goals. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Windows-based), PowerPoint, Excel, BlueBeam, Adobe Acrobat.
  • Proficiency in reading bid documents & architectural drawings
