Job Output

 

Reporting to the Senior Architectural Specialties (AS) Manager Quality, the Quality Engineer will mainly be responsible for performing engineering duties in support of quality, project risk assessment, customer service, reporting and analysis and process improvement.

   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Quality

  • Investigates customer complaints, issues non-conformance reports and monitors corrective action plans.
  • Develops Quality Assurance and Design requirements with New Product Development Teams.
  • Improves customer satisfaction and reduces product claims.
  • Conducts and performs quality assessments.
  • Collects and analyzes data for claims and quality.
  • Provides product technical support to AS Project Coordinators and Project Managers.

 

Project Risk Assessment

  • Evaluates incoming orders for custom ceilings and walls.
  • Assesses manufacturing resource needs in terms of materials and factory capabilities.
  • Determines manufacturing risks (new product, new process, new suspension method).
  • Implements countermeasures to offset risks and ensure on-time quality products to jobsites.

 

Customer Service

  • Develops an understanding of customer needs and takes actions to ensure that such needs are met.
  • Effectively communicates proposed solutions to internal customers, management or other interested parties through written proposals and oral presentations.
  • Establishes collaborative relationships through the organization and with suppliers to work cooperatively to resolve issues and concerns.

 

Reporting and Analysis

  • Compiles and analyzes statistical data to develop policies, procedures, methods, standards and reports for AS supply chain. 
  • Provides monthly updates to Key Performance Indicators and Dashboards.
  • Develops business insights based on analysis of results and communicates key findings to management to facilitate data driven decision making.
  • Provides analytical and reporting capabilities to procurement and sourcing initiatives.

 

Process Improvement

  • Supports Quality Improvement and Process Improvement initiatives.  Leads and facilitates ad-hoc improvement and project teams.  Seeks to improve processes and quality, making recommendations as appropriate.
  • Participates in Capacity Building activities at Internal and External suppliers.
  • Assumes ownership of ongoing cost savings initiatives, including implementation, tracking and measurement.
  • Administers and maintains supply chain document management solutions both internally and between AS and suppliers.
  • Creates, updates and maintains standard work process documentation.

 

Travel:  Moderate; approximately 20%

 

Qualifications

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel and other program running on Microsoft Windows.
  • Prior demonstrated ability to read blueprints is required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills, translated into sound, tactical and strategic, business understanding.
  • Ability to interpret quantitative data and communicate results clearly and concisely.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and be flexible with the ability to multi-task and to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to work independently and set priorities to accomplish goals on time.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and work well with suppliers and internal personnel.
  • Ability to differentiate/distinguish between colors to conduct visual evaluations against quality standards.

Education and/or Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other engineering degree.
  • Minimum 1+ years Manufacturing or Quality experience.
  • Experience with Minitab desirable.
