The estimated base salary range for this role is “$100,000 to $125,000” per year.  
Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors (salary may be adjusted based on geographic location)

This position is responsible for performing building energy modeling assessments to support customers’ use of Armstrong energy-efficient building products. The role focuses on demonstrating product value propositions in a range of applications and communicating benefits and practical building operating guidance to most effectively leverage the technology. The position is responsible for increasing the credibility and understanding in the marketplace of Armstrong energy-efficient products through rigorous analysis, building energy models, and effective communication. This position works closely with sales teams, customers, and internal stakeholders.

What you will do

Sales and Customer Support

  • Develop building energy models to analyze the effects of Armstrong energy-efficient products across diverse building types and climates.
  • Assist sales teams with custom energy models to demonstrate energy-saving potential in specific customer applications.
  • Write operating guides to help facility managers operate their buildings effectively to leverage Armstrong products toward their energy goals.
  • Support technical customers, including building engineers and energy modelers, to leverage Armstrong products to achieve LEED E&A credits and meet building energy codes.
  • Present technical webinars/trainings for architects, engineers, and building operators on Armstrong energy-efficient products, use-cases, and benefits.
  • Create simplified energy estimation tools (spreadsheets, GUIs) for quick field estimates of energy saving measures employing Armstrong products.
  • Collaborate with utilities in target markets to establish rebate programs, supported by models and M&V data.

Technical Marketing

  • Support measurement and verification (M&V) studies with calibrated energy models and simulation-based savings estimates.
  • Write case studies highlighting Armstrong energy-efficient products in test facilities and explaining M&V results.
  • Plan and support creation of educational video content demonstrating Armstrong energy-efficient products, working principles, applications, and value propositions.
  • Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for products across various building types, climates, and scenarios, and communicate results in marketing assets.

Product Development

  • Capture and relay customer feedback and needs to R&D team to inform new product development.
  • Contribute to Armstrong's energy product development roadmap as a stakeholder.
  • Perform energy modeling sensitivity studies to identify key building operational parameters and target characteristics for current and new Armstrong products.
  • Assist in product positioning and target market identification and sizing exercises for new products in development.

Industry Expertise

  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and building energy modeling best practices.
  • Network and participate in technical influence organizations like ASHRAE and USGBC.

 

What will make you successful

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing building energy modeler, preferably in a customer-facing role or with an energy modeling firm.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building energy modeling software such as EnergyPlus, eQUEST, or IES-VE.
  • Expertise in building energy modeling, HVAC systems, building thermal management, and energy-efficient building practices.
  • Experience with building automation systems and energy management platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts and work closely with customers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player eager collaborate and work in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit for reviewing building plans and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with data visualization tools.
