Armstrong’s Innovation department has an internship opportunity for the summer of 2019, located at our corporate headquarters in Lancaster, PA. We are looking for candidates that have the technical savvy to understand our products, processes and test requirements.  We want to hire highly motivated engineering interns with the necessary leadership requirements and qualifications to help create and commercialize innovations that delight our customers. 
 

Under the supervision and guidance of an experienced scientist or engineer, you will be assigned a project where you will help expand Armstrong’s capability and knowledge of process & product Innovation. As an intern you will be expected to gain proficiency in the operation and application of the latest process innovation, including but not limited to 3D printing technology, by working with several technical groups across our Technology organization. You will be expected to actively participate in project team discussions and develop tangible solutions with the goal of reduced development cycle time and rapid prototyping. The work you will be assigned is integral to business goals and objectives. Technical management will be supportive during your work and interested in your results. You will be responsible for summarizing the project and your results to the leadership team at the end of your internship. Thorough Safety Training will be provided and required. By the end of the internship you will have learned how to translate concepts into specifiable prototypes as well as working on a diverse team.

 

Education and/or Experience                                                 

  • Must be pursuing an Engineering, Industrial Design or Product Design Degree from an ABET accredited program
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, cumulative and within major
  • Must have completed Junior year prior to starting summer 2019 internship
  • Extensive 3D printing background preferred

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the specific ability to work in teams
  • Capability to build relationships with other functions, which will be essential with such activities as teaching teams and transferring knowledge
  • Well-developed computer skills in a Windows environment
  • Some demonstrated knowledge of 3D printing technologies
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office with emphasis in Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work independently and make autonomous decisions when necessary
  • Unlimited authorization to work in the United States
