The estimated base salary range for this role is “$85,000 to $98,000” per year.  
Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors (salary may be adjusted based on geographic location)

Reporting to the Director, New Product Development, the Project Manager will provide project management expertise and leadership to approved NPD (New Product Development) projects and is involved in all aspects of the product development process: from business case development through commercialization. Additionally, the Project Manager will routinely interact with business leadership, manufacturing management, product managers, technical experts, sales, marketing, finance, vendors, suppliers and customers to deliver results against targeted growth plans.

What you’ll do

  • Managing the execution of assigned development projects for AWI
  • Ensuring the effective and disciplined use of the Armstrong Project Management Process and related sub-processes by all project team and functional support members
  • Achieving targeted safety, cost, quality, schedule and performance objectives of all assigned projects
  • Developing and managing project budgets within agreed upon targets
  • Supporting Product Managers and other key functional leaders in the development of business cases and other key process related documentation
  • Developing and managing project metrics that monitor project performance against established objectives
  • Developing and managing approved project resource plans for all assigned projects
  • Providing proactive, effective communication on project activities to all key business stakeholders
  • Actively participating in selected leadership and functional staff meetings as required to keep key stakeholders aware of project activities, changes, issues, etc.
  • Networking with other Project Managers to ensure best practices are shared
  • Working collaboratively with all levels of AWI’s manufacturing organization and outside third-party vendors / suppliers to provide new technology solutions
  • Using LEAN principles to improve the overall effectiveness of process development activities
  • Supporting the development of AWI front-end processes and the queue of innovation opportunities as required
  • Engaging with product managers, market research and customers as required to secure necessary VOC input to business cases and NPD projects
  • This position could require significant travel depending on assignments and project phases.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or related field
  • 5+ years project management experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Outstanding communication skills at all levels of the organization and across all functional units
  • Able to impart knowledge of the process in a positive, value-added manner
  • Systematic approach to standard work
  • Deliver projects on time and on budget

  • Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to Agile Project Management principles
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt training
  • Project Management certification
  • Knowledge of Tableau, Minitab MS Project, and other Microsoft applications
  • Experience with Wood Ceiling products or related field
  • PMP Certification
