The estimated base salary range for this role is “$105,000 to $145,000” per year.  
Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors

Armstrong World Industries (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Senior/Principal Mechanical Project Engineer in Lancaster, PA.  The Senior/Principal Mechanical Project Engineer will be responsible for leading and executing projects relating to manufacturing equipment and processes. Additionally, the Senior/Principal Mechanical Project Engineer will have the opportunity to work closely with various teams within the organization, including AWI’s manufacturing, Innovation, New Product Development, plant and operations staff, along with outside suppliers.

What you will do

  • Lead and execute major capital projects per agreed cost, schedule, and performance 
  • Specify equipment, work with  suppliers and contractors to design, procure and  install assets   
  • Actively participate as a member of multifunctional project teams 
  • Investigate equipment or process issues and recommend corrective action 
  • Apply sound mechanical & precision maintenance principles on all projects and installations 
  • Mentor and develop corporate or plant engineers and maintenance personnel
  • Participating in Agile Lean events to drive rapid process improvements 
  • Partner with  plant engineering, maintenance, and operations to assure customer requirements and expectations are met

 

What will make you successful

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent 
  • 5-7 years of experience with project engineering and project management  in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with estimating project costs and stage gate approval process
  • Experience with SAP
  • Ability to lead projects and teams 
  • Hands on installation and construction skills 
  • Proven ability to communicate and integrate well across organizational functions/units 
  • Demonstrated presentation skills 
  • Willingness to travel to local and international locations 

 

What will make you stand out

  • Diverse Project Engineering and Manufacturing experience
  • Experience using AutoCAD
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) and/or Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • Lean Practitioner certification or experience utilizing Lean tools

 

Travel

  • Up to 50% depending on the scope and phases of ongoing projects
