The estimated base salary range for this role is “$55,950.00 to $108,040.00” per year.

Reporting to the Manager, Internal Audit, the Staff Auditor assists in supporting the Audit Committee with executing the duties set forth in its Charter.  The incumbent assists with delivering assurance and advisory capabilities to provide adequate coverage of the business processes and control risks throughout the enterprise.  Under a moderate level of guidance and direction, the role assists with navigating the complexities of the Company’s financial, commercial, operations, and IT processes to execute engagement strategies.  Value is added to the Company by providing impartial assessments of the effectiveness of controls across the organization.   

 

The incumbent consults and collaborates closely with the Manager, Internal Audit to plan, execute and report on all types of assurance reviews of the Company’s operations, as well as a myriad of management requests and special projects assigned by the Director, Internal Audit and/or the Manager that include SOX 404 controls validation, developing/deploying continuous monitoring and data analytics, and advocating and promoting the enterprise value of Internal Auditing and robust enterprise risk management across the Company.   

 

On a day-to-day basis, the incumbent executes the audit process and may assist in training new team members.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

 

  • Effectively uses existing procedures to perform standard or routine financial and operational audits across the enterprise in accordance with IIA International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. 

  • Maintains communication and relations with auditees, and Internal Auditing management regarding work progress and findings in a manner which continually reaffirms and strengthens the value-enhancing mission of the department. 

  • Executes key audit procedures that include:  

  • obtaining, analyzing, and appraising evidentiary data; 

  • drawing informed, objective opinions as to the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, compliance with Company policies/procedures and efficiency of operations; 

  • preparing work papers summarizing evidentiary data obtained and conclusions reached; and 

  • contributing to value-added audit reports and supporting communication of results to key constituents in verbal and written form. 

  • Evaluates control activities to ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting throughout the enterprise as promulgated by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. 

  • Completes follow-up procedures of prior management action plans. 

  • Contributes to the preparation of the Department’s Status Updates to the Audit Committee. 

  • Coordinates and works directly with external audit and assurance service providers. 

  • Remains current on the latest developments within the audit and accounting professions. 

  • Contributes to the effective governance strategy and promotes integrity and ethical values throughout the organization. 

  • Supports special projects assigned, that may include, but are not limited to: 

  • pre/post-implementation reviews of enterprise information systems; 

  • advising on risks and controls during organizational changes and process re-engineering; 

  • assisting with business acquisitions and divestitures; 

  • supporting specific task teams; 

  • assisting with investigations; and 

  • other management requests. 

  • Collaborates and supports the development of analytic and continuous monitoring capabilities. 

  • Supports continuous improvement of Internal Auditing capabilities and service offerings. 

 

Travel:  Domestic business travel is expected to average 10-15% per year. 

 

Qualifications

  • Solid written and verbal communication, analytical, and organizational skills. 

  • Ability to travel domestically (approximately 4 weeks throughout the year). 

  • Knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions (SAP preferred). 

  • Knowledge of ACL or data analytics solutions. 

  • Knowledge of AuditBoard or other audits/SOX applications. 

  • Affinity toward continuous business/process improvement. 

  • Strong customer focus toward audit stakeholders. 

  • Ability to build independent trusted relationships with business partners. 

 

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or other related fields. 

  • 1-2+ years of progressive experience in Internal Auditing and/or public accounting. 

  • Manufacturing and/or publicly traded company experience is a plus. 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • CPA or CIA certification preferred (or actively pursuing).
