Armstrong World Industries (AWI) is currently seeking a Sustainability Director to join our Legal team at our facility in Lancaster, PA. The Sustainability Director will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining a Corporate Social Responsibility/Sustainability program. In addition, you will work collaboratively across all disciplines to develop, drive, monitor, promote and lead the company’s ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) initiatives.

 

Moderate travel expected, approximately 25%

 

Responsibilities of the Sustainability Director:

  • Designing and deploying a Corporate Social Responsibility strategic plan, including a vision statement aligned with the company’s strategic priorities and mission statement
  • Cultivating ESG awareness and engagement throughout the organization, including all business lines and support functions
  • Communicating, educating and promoting the company’s ESG mission and vision to internal and external stakeholders, including employees, customers, shareholders and communities
  • Defining, in partnership with internal stakeholders and executive management, ESG priorities and objectives
  • Creating plans and programs to educate employees about ESG programs and motivate their engagement with and through participation and recognition
  • Working with business units and support functions to align on the selection of measurement and reporting standards and frameworks for ESG goals and reporting
  • Providing regular reporting of ESG program goals and performance to senior management and, on occasion, the Board of Directors and/or its Committees
  • Collaborating with communication teams to promote ESG and sustainability initiatives to stakeholders, including potential and current employees, customers, investors, analysts press and social media

 

Required Qualifications and Education of the Sustainability Director:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or Sustainability
  • 10+ years of experience executing corporate social responsiblity and sustainability programs
  • Experience in leading, motivating and directing cross-functional teams to achieve results

 

Preferred Qualifications and Education of the Sustainability Director:

  • Previous experience with corporate philanthropy
  • Previous experience with ESG initiatives  
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, operations and/or product design
  • LEED Certification
