The estimated hourly base rate for this position is $25/hr - $35/hr per year.

GC Products, a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries, has an opening for a Production Group Leader in our Customs Department. As an industry leader in creating and manufacturing GFRG and GFRC solutions for architectural projects, we partner with our clients to take architectural concepts from design to completion. This role is a working group leader role and is responsible for managing associates who are engaged in the manufacture of cement-based and gypsum-based architectural and non-architectural building products for the building and construction industry.

 

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage all custom production department associates

  • Proactively participate in the GC Products Safety Programs and strive for zero injuries

  • Read, interpret and understand production (shop) drawings

  • Maintain inventory of raw materials, equipment & tools

  • Occasionally use electric-powered, air-powered and hand tools. i.e., Saws, Sanders, Nail guns, Screw guns, Wrenches, Various hand tools, etc.

  • Assist the mold fabrication department as needed to perform “set-ups” or adjustments in existing casting molds

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

  • Collaborate with and support other departments to maintain company operations and efficiency

  • Work with various cements, gypsums and casting materials

  • Quality check finished molds and finished pieces for accuracy including pre-assembly verification

  • Occasional travel to customer or other work locations

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Able to receive and comprehend direction and instruction from the Plant Manager

  • Able to make decisions, meet targets and work under manufacturing timelines

  • Participate in the GC Products manufacturing efficiency program

  • Communicate and work well with other departments: Drafting, Mold Fabrication, Shipping and CNC Routing

  • Expected to strive for excellence and support the success and profitability of the company to the best of their ability

  • Able to work in stationary positions for long periods of time

  • Display professional conduct and adhere to company policies

  • Move up to 50 lbs and transport molds from table-to-floor or floor-to-table

  • Able to work in cold and hot ambient temperatures

  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing others

  • Experience managing a custom architectural manufacturing department

  • Demonstrated qualification in electric and pneumatic powered tools

Plant Environment – This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to cold and hot temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords, tools, and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty or dirty conditions.  Required PPE includes safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe/composite shoes and adherence to all plant safety protocols.
