The base pay for this role is $30.45 per hour.

Electrician Apprentice Responsibilities:

  • Learning from experienced industrial electricians and completing all assigned duties.
  • Identifying, analyzing, troubleshooting, and assisting with repairs of equipment and electrical faults.
  • Interpreting blueprints and schematics.
  • Updating work logs and handling other administrative duties.
  • Ordering replacement parts and equipment as needed.
  • Completing electrical installations and carrying out various maintenance duties.
  • Working irregular hours and overtime when required.
  • Collaborating with contractors and other maintenance staff members.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent vocational training and related experience preferred, but not required.
  • Must be physically able to perform the manual work of the Maintenance skill in which he/she is to receive training.
  • Must be willing to work all shifts and to work daily, weekend, and holiday overtime when necessary.
  • Candidates must have satisfactorily completed *six months of technical training in courses applicable to the apprenticeship field being interviewed for.  Applicability will be determined by the apprenticeship focal or Maintenance Manager.
  • Must pass Applied Technology Work Keys assessment by 1st Step Progression.

 

APPRENTICE PROGRAM

The total time for the apprentice program will normally be two years of supervised work activity and outside study.

The apprentice program shall include:

  1. A schedule of course study at CGTC as determined by management.
  2. On-the-job training under Maintenance Department supervision.
    1. Specific work assignment to become familiar with operating methods and/or equipment related to the skill in which the individual is being trained, and
    2. Practical experience through general maintenance assignments.
  3. Other training and/or job-related instructions as provided by management.

Each participant is required to regularly attend and successfully complete each of the areas of training listed above. Progress in these studies must be on time and with a minimum of a “C” grade to remain in the program. After entry into this apprentice program, all approved tuition, books, and fees of the CGTC program will be paid by the company.

About the location (Macon GA)

Our Macon Plant, one of twelve Armstrong plants in North America, employs over 400 people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers.  Located approximately 85 miles south of Atlanta, the Macon facility has 33 acres under one roof, or 1.5 million square feet of floor space.  It is the largest ceiling tile factory in the world.  The operations are complex, and automated, use the latest modern management technology, and manufacture a wide range of commercial and residential ceiling products.
