The estimated base salary range for this role is “$70,610.00 to $105,910.00” per year.

We have a terrific career opportunity for a Process Engineer for our plant in Macon, GA.  If you are a self-motivated engineer looking to be part of a high-paced, dynamic production environment with opportunities for professional and technical development then this is the job for you. As part of a process improvement team you will drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes through root cause analysis, variation reduction and process optimization.  You will also execute projects and studies of significant importance, scope, and complexity.

 

Our Macon Plant, 1 of 5 Armstrong ceiling plants, employs approximately 380 people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers.  Located approximately 85 miles south of Atlanta, it is the largest ceiling tile factory in the world.  You will be responsible for the following:

  • Executing medium to large scope projects including cost reduction, new product development, energy utilization, and process improvement.
  • Investigating improvement opportunities and initiate critical manufacturing process improvement projects.
  • Leading cross functional teams to achieve improvement objectives.
  • Developing and implementing selected process measurement to monitor manufacturing performance and system effectiveness.
  • Working closely with plant technical, production and maintenance resources, etc., in the development of new products, processes, and cost reduction opportunities to achieve process improvement goals.
  • Providing technical expertise in applying process improvement tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, design of experiments and statistical process control and use these tools to identify and improve plant performance.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university
  • At least 2 - 5 years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Team player with proven ability to execute in all phases of projects
  • Well developed computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and statistical analysis programs such as Minitab
  • Willingness to work off shift hours in support of plant initiatives

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean and/or other process improvement methodologies desired
  • Experience in ceiling, paper, plastics, or similar manufacturing industry

Our Macon Plant, one of twelve Armstrong plants in North America, employs over 400 people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers.  Located approximately 85 miles south of Atlanta, the Macon facility has 33 acres under one roof, or 1.5 million square feet of floor space.  It is the largest ceiling tile factory in the world.  The operations are complex, automated, use the latest modern management technology, and manufacture a wide range of commercial and residential ceiling products.
