Armstrong Building Products (ABP), a division of Armstrong World Industries, Inc., has a job opportunity for a Logistics Planner to be located in Marietta, PA. Reporting to the Plant Logistics Manager, the Logistics Planner will be responsible for participating in manufacturing and supply chain functions at both the plant and operations level in order to satisfy customer orders, manage inventory assets, and facilitate effective manufacturing operations.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Logistics Planner:

  • Performing production and distribution planning for finished stock
  • Developing and executing day to day production schedule for Boardmill, Fabrication and Specials product lines
  • Managing Goods in Process (GIP) levels to balance inventory space, fiscal responsibilities and plant efficiencies
  • Advising on raw materials inventory control and supporting inventory ordering and procurement processes
  • Participating in the development of the plant production plan and capacity analysis
  • Performing SAP modules system maintenance, including Production Planning (PP) and Materials Management (MM)
  • Leading and participating in process improvement efforts
  • Participating in year-end physical inventory counts
  • Participating in capital project planning

 

Required Qualifications of the Logistics Planner:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or other related field
  • Knowledge of raw materials procurement, production planning and scheduling, production processes, cost control and other techniques for efficient supply chain management.
  • 1-3 years or more of supply chain, logistics, production planning, or purchasing experience.
  • Strong analytical and math skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, statistical software, & web based applications.  Need ability to become proficient quickly in software packages such as SAP.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently to achieve goals
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma
  • Excellent customer service skills

 

Desired Qualifications of the Logistics Planner:

  • SAP experience preferred
  • APICS certification favorable
