The estimated base salary range for this role is “55,000 to 83,000” per year.  
Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors

As the Design Estimator for ACGI (a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries) based at our facility in Marshfield, MO you will be instrumental in developing quotes for RFQs in a timely manner for our Architectural Wood Specialties division early in the design process.


To accomplish this, you will review rough sketches, architectural drawings, engineering drawings, and architectural plans to ensure that the right solutions are utilized in a cost-effective, profitable manner.


Your day-to-day as Design Estimator will also involve providing general and project specific customer support to our field sales teams as well as to contractors, architects, and distributors under the direction of our Architectural Design Estimating Supervisor.


What you’ll be doing 


  • Estimating design projects on a tight schedule early in the design process in
  • Partnering with internal customers to prepare estimates 
  • Utilizing your understanding of fabrication and manufacturing to create material take offs
  • Building estimates for labor rates, material costs, machine time, and freight
  • Acting as the estimating team consultant and providing updates to materials pricing lists
  • Reviewing complex quotes with senior management
  • Creating final project quotes for customers and field sales
  • Communicating with customer throughout the Sales process
  • Preparing daily RFPs from the general field, contractors, and distributors
  • Fielding daily Requests for Information from field sales for technical questions
  • Answering and routing phone calls to sales and project management



  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ year of expertise as an estimator in a similar industry
  • Robust mathematical skills
  • Familiarity with using labor rates, machine time, material costs and usage, and freight to calculate and quote projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience managing multiple design projects from concept to delivery in the areas of quoting, prototyping, purchasing, scheduling, production, and shipping


What makes you stand out 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or related discipline
  • Ability to read engineering and architectural blueprints and specifications
  • Prior experience within the construction industry
  • A history of supporting construction project management

About the location (Marshfield MO)

Architectural Components Group, Inc. (ACGI), a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI), is one of twelve AWI plants in North America. Our Marshfield plant in south western Missouri is conveniently located within 3 hours to large cities such as Tulsa, Kansas City, and St. Louis as well as within 30 minutes to the smaller city of Springfield. However, it's rural attributes serve to also attract outdoorsmen and nature enthusiasts.  Eight large lakes are within an hour's drive, two smaller lakes are within 30 minutes. All offer an array of outdoor opportunities including fishing, boating, skiing, and sailing.
