As our Plant Quality Systems Manager, you will be accountable for the development and subsequent effectiveness of the Plant Quality process. You will provide leadership on a plantwide basis to create an environment of process control and improvement, assuring that finished projects conform to established quality requirements.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Reviewing existing products and their specifications
  • Documenting specification into standard work with manufacturing planning teams
  • Performing advanced quality planning on custom projects through mockups, use of measuring tools and equipment
  • Developing, implementing, sustaining, and auditing robust quality management systems to ensure key product quality measures are achieved through controlled and predictable manufacturing processes
  • Leading quality assurance activities; implementing quality systems and infrastructure to improve overall customer experience, claims performance, product and packaging quality and detection of defects
  • Providing continuous learning and skill development for plant employees, and updating Marshfield Training Matrix accordingly
  • Providing training and ensuring competence of plant personnel who make product quality decisions; assisting with troubleshooting and corrective actions; providing recommendation relative to disposition of material
  • Owning the plant’s change management process to include testing and compliance processes so that critical-to-customer attributes are maintained or improved upon
  • Owning the external quality reporting and technical performance of supply chain quality performance
  • Developing and owning the Marshfield Plant Quality Documentation System
  • Driving continuous improvement in quality processes to the floor level
  • Advising production supervision on acceptability of finished goods relative to quality aspects; making decisions as to the acceptance or rejection of materials
  • Developing and maintaining quality visual standards for all products
  • Promoting positive employee relations by frequently interacting with the hourly workforce to discuss and assist with problems or complaints; encouraging direct reports to establish and maintain similar work relationships
  • Assessing and providing feedback on performance of direct reports
  • Interfacing effectively with all levels of the organization, including but not limited to plant leadership, management team and hourly workforce
  • Thinking strategically about growth of products, manufacturing equipment and processes

 

What will make you successful:

  • 5+ years of quality, lean, or process improvement experience
  • Working knowledge of quality management systems
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products and Microsoft 365 applications
  • Self-starter with a strong ability to multi-task and to coordinate multiple responsibilities
  • An analytical mind with strong math skills
  • Excellent organization and planning, communication, and active listening skills
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Utilization of critical thinking
  • High school diploma

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Associates degree or higher in Manufacturing Management, Wood Technology, Quality Systems, or related
  • Experience in a make-to-order manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of wood fabrication, adhesives & coatings, and the various components to manufacture
  • ASQ, Certified Quality Engineer or other professional quality certification
