Armstrong World Industries, Inc., has a job opportunity for an Architectural Specialities Project Manager to be located at our Plasterform, Inc. subsidiary in Mississauga, Ontario. Under the direction of the Director, Construction Services, the AS Project Manager will be responsible for interacting with sales representatives, architects, owners, facility managers, contractors and distributors to influence the specification and purchase of Armstrong AS special ceiling solutions.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Work collaboratively with architects, contractors and distributors to manage the quotation. process for complex, custom specialty ceiling solutions.
  • Review & interpret customer design requirements.
  • Complete blueprint take-offs.
  • Partner with sourced vendors to identify technical solutions and options.
  • Create pricing options to maximum margin.
  • Coordinate with operations team members to ensure quotation activities are completed. accurately and on-time Partner with sales team and customer to provide creative value-engineered solutions to meet customer budget requirements.
  • Provide leadership and project management rigor to drive cost/margin, schedule, performance and quality of assigned projects
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project files.
  • Ensure customer communication process is effective.
  • Manage the change order process.
  • Provide clear direction and support to project team members.
  • Provide leadership to project team (coordinators and CAD designers) to manage the accuracy, quality and timeliness of the submittal process.
  • Oversee the preparation and routing of approval packages and sign offs as required.
  • Coordinate with customer service, inside and field sales, and customers to explore project opportunities and evaluate our opportunity to participate in the specification and quotation process
  • Partner with sales team on sales calls to provide technical expertise on product and service capabilities
  • Provide technical support and education to internal/external customers for product and installation related inquiries
  • Provide on-site technical support for claims and installation issues


Desired qualifications and skills:

  • Strong general mathematical abilities (margin/profit calculations, calculating linear and square areas, currency conversion, etc.)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proven experience in a customer-facing role that includes sales influencing
  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong preference for candidates with familiarity with the construction business, estimating, reading blueprints and/or understanding of the bidding process
  • Familiar with take- off software, knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent two-year college or technical school required, ideally in a technical discipline such as Architecture, Engineering or related field
  • 3 years relevant project management work experience, ideally in construction or a related industry
