Armstrong World Industries, Inc., has a job opportunity for an Architectural Specialities Design Estimator to be located at our Plasterform, Inc. subsidiary in Mississauga, Ontario. Under the direction of the Director, Construction Services, the Architectural Specialties Design Estimator provides project specific and general customer support to field sales and customers.  This position interacts directly with contractors, architects and distributors for all Architectural Specialties technical requests.  This position gets involved in the collaboration/coordination of plans and activities with project managers and with groups appropriate to the support activity assigned.  Works collaboratively with CSC as required on standard or semi standard products.


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Reading and interpreting architectural drawings and quantifying scope of work.
  • Create pricing options to maximize margins.
  • Filling the daily RFP’s from the general field, contractors and distributors within a 24 hour turn around.
  • Fielding the daily RFI’s from the general field sales force for technical questions regarding Architectural Specialty’s various systems.
  • Managing Order to Delivery Process with Project Coordinators.
  • Processing order changes and additions on key projects.
  • Assisting Sales and Project Managers on monitoring approval packages.  Working with contractors and architects to receive the necessary “sign offs” to begin production
  • Answering and routing phone calls to sales, project management.
  • Coordinate and build appropriate submittal packages.
  • Customer communication Production to Delivery process.
  • Project management on small projects.
  • Work with Project Coordinators to prepare submittal documents.
  • Assist with customer service requirements for Operations.
  • Visit with architects, contractors and distributors as deemed necessary to design. or find solutions to specific issues.
  • Assist in all customer visitations.
  • Visit job sites for contractor training.


Desired qualifications and skills:

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Experience in a technical sales-related role
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent two-year college or technical school required, ideally in a technical discipline such as Architecture, Engineering or related field.
  • 3 years relevant work experience in construction or a related industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office
  • Familiar with Take-Off software
