The estimated base salary range for this role is “ $63,170.00 to $108,040.00” per year.

Armstrong World Industries, Inc. has a job opportunity for an Assistant Human Resources Manager to be located in Pensacola, FL.  The position reports to the site Human Resources Manager and is responsible for overseeing employee training, the skill certification process and labor contract administration.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Human Resources Manager:

  • Responsible for site compliance for federal, state and local employment law including ADA, FMLA, AAP and EEO
  • Managing Training-Certification process and continued improvement of the process
  • Identifying local, state, federal grants for training 
  • Coordinating proper and consistent application of the negotiated labor agreement including;
    • Assist in the investigation and proper disposition of grievances
    • Improvement of labor relations through the effective management of the labor relations issues list (small issues to medium scope projects)
  • Continuously improving the hiring process for both hourly and salary positions
    • Development of successful orientation and assimilation of all new employees.
    • Own the probationary process for hourly employees
    • Assist managers in on-boarding processes for new salaried employees       
  • Assisting in the case management of work related injury cases to ensure proper care is provided through the plants' Nurse Case Manager and coordinating all Workers Comp payments through 3rd party administrator
  • Assisting in the supervision of the plant security workforce
  • Leading the Plant Wellness Committee - developing, coordinating, and executing yearly Wellness Operating Plan
  • Salaried and hourly timekeeping site administrator
  • Event planning as needed

 

Required Qualifications:

  • College degree in business related curriculum or Certification in Professional Human Resource Management
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Effective facilitation of teams or groups
  • Basic project management and execution
  • Ability to use computer programs and processes (Excel, Word, SAP, etc.)
  • Basic data collection and analysis capabilities

 

Desired Qualifications for the Human Resources Specialist:

  • 3+ years of HR experience
  • 3+ years manufacturing experience
  • Basic Process Improvement Awareness required; Trailblazing, Lean Manufacturing, Green Belt experience desired
  • HRIS or IT related experience
  • Collective bargaining experience

About the location (Pensacola FL)

Our Pensacola Plant, one of twelve Armstrong plants in North America, employs 200+ people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers worldwide. The Pensacola Plant was originally built in 1929 to produce insulating building material.  

Pensacola is the westernmost city in the Florida Panhandle. Pensacola is a seaport on Pensacola Bay, which is protected by 52 miles of sugar white barrier islands on the emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico. A large United States Naval Air Station, the first in the United States, is located southwest of the city and is the home of the Blue Angels flight demonstration team and the National Naval Aviation Museum.

Pensacola is nicknamed "The City of Five Flags", due to the five governments that have ruled it during its history.
