Position Summary

 

As Project Engineer, you’ll be accountable for supporting the design and installation of capital equipment and systems in our ceilings manufacturing locations. Your first 3-6 months in this role will begin at our Corporate Headquarters in Lancaster, PA, learning about our engineering processes and key technologies used to make ceilings.

 

Your next 4-6 months will occur at one of our ceiling manufacturing facilities where you will be tasked with increasing your understanding of the company and ceiling technology

 

Upon completion of the training program, you will begin your full-time, permanent assignment as either a corporate-based engineer traveling and supporting multiple plants, or as a plant engineer based at one of our manufacturing locations.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

 

After completing the training period, you will begin leading projects that involve problem investigation, requirements gathering and solutions development, scope documentation, and equipment specification, and more.

 

You will be expected to provide engineering support throughout all project phases and equipment installations related to improving manufacturing operations, and will learn directly from subject matter experts, production managers, and front-line operators.

 

Typical projects include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Replacing and enhancing production capabilities via adding and modifying equipment
  • Leading all activities related to troubleshooting and solving a production problem
  • Ensuring all mechanical assets are in a precision state through establishing equipment SOPs and maintenance practices
  • Estimating and executing new product and cost improvement projects
  • Modifying equipment and processes and automate manual tasks to improve capacity and reduce costs

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with a minimum 2.8 GPA
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Previous AutoCAD experience

About the location (Pensacola FL)

Our Pensacola Plant, one of twelve Armstrong plants in North America, employs 200+ people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers worldwide. The Pensacola Plant was originally built in 1929 to produce insulating building material.  

Pensacola is the westernmost city in the Florida Panhandle. Pensacola is a seaport on Pensacola Bay, which is protected by 52 miles of sugar white barrier islands on the emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico. A large United States Naval Air Station, the first in the United States, is located southwest of the city and is the home of the Blue Angels flight demonstration team and the National Naval Aviation Museum.

Pensacola is nicknamed "The City of Five Flags", due to the five governments that have ruled it during its history.
