The estimated base salary range for this role is “$70,000 to $87,000” per year.  
Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors (salary may be adjusted based on geographic location)

Job Summary         

This position reports to the Manufacturing Team Manager and is responsible for effectively motivating and managing a team of people producing board for ceiling tile. The work involves coaching and developing your team, providing leadership, interdepartmental coordination, and continuous improvement of all aspects of the manufacturing process including: cost targets, schedule adherence, quality processes, manufacturing process capability, manpower, maintenance integration, product development initiatives.

What you’ll do

  • Leading, managing, and training a production crew of ~15 employees
  • Promoting and ensuring a safe working environment, including training the crew and adhering to all company and governmental policies and regulations
  • Ensuring production goals are met or exceeded including quality, waste, and rate
  • Meeting objectives for plant reliability measures (% uptime, % line rate, and % scrap)
  • Ensuring effective manpower utilization
  • Effective use of problem solving tools and methodologies to improve operational results
  • Coordinate activities around major shutdowns and holiday periods
  • Coordinate daily maintenance activities in the operation to minimize process disruption
  • Integrate maintenance work and production work around downdays including prioritizing the work and scheduling production activities
  • Integrate operations with production planning; raw material flow, inventory, packaging, quality of material, GIP management
  • Identify and plan for manpower requirements, overtime, maintenance required to complete standard and critical work
  • Coordinate new product development (NPD) activities in the operation
  • Working with maintenance and engineering to optimize the equipment performance and reliability


What will make you successful

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Recent work experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, technical, or related field or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency with Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SAP
  • Highly effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and successfully execute tasks in accordance with business objectives
  • Proven ability to implement change in manufacturing or maintenance systems
  • Basic knowledge of key OSHA regulations (i.e. Confined Spaces, Electrical Safety, Energy Isolation, and Machine Safeguarding)
  • Proven incident investigation skills and familiarity with structured tools (such as RCFA, 5-Why, 8SPS)
  • Ability and willingness to work rotating shift schedule
  • Practical working knowledge of process improvement methods

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, technical, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in production supervision in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with a unionized workforce
