Armstrong World Industries is currently seeking a Staff Electrical Project Engineer to join our Engineering team in Pensacola, FL. The Staff Electrical Project Engineer will mainly be responsible for providing technical services relating to the manufacturing equipment and processes.  These services include: providing daily technical support, identifying and executing process improvement and cost reduction opportunities, in addition to supporting the design, management, and execution of capital projects.

 

Responsibilities of the Staff Electrical Project Engineer:

  • Plan and safely execute capital projects per agreed cost, schedule, and performance metrics
  • Provide technical assistance to Plant Production and Maintenance on a proactive basis
  • Collaborate with Value Stream Teams to drive resolution of common and special cause issues
  • Investigate manufacturing issues and recommend corrective action
  • Consult with production personnel, gather and analyze data, develop corrective actions, and follow through on recommendations to evaluate their effectiveness and sustainability
  • Identify and execute improvements in plant's engineering systems and procedures
  • Serve as plant contact for AWIT project teams impacting the facility; represent needs of plant to AWIT project teams, and communicate critical issues and resolutions back to the Plant
  • Apply Precision Maintenance concepts and principals to all work performed
  • Transfer technical knowledge to plant personnel to elevate understanding and performance
  • Serve as technical resource to maintenance staff; assist with troubleshooting and training on Power Distribution, PLC's, Drives, HMI's, etc.

 

Required Qualifications and Education of the Staff Electrical Project Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledge of Industrial power including Substations and Motor Control Centers
  • Industrial automation experience: PLC (Allen-Bradley PLC 5 and Control Logix Platforms), HMI (Wonderware & PanelView), Allen- Bradley Variable Frequency Drives, Allen-Bradley Servo Systems, Instrumentation and Controls
  • Previous hands-on work with managing an industrial Ethernet
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs

 

Preferred Qualifications of the Staff Electrical Project Engineer:

  • Familiarity with Networking and data management systems
  • Experience with SAP, Project System Modules, Minitab, AutoCAD,
  • Knowledge of FANUC robot capabilities and programming

Our Pensacola Plant, one of ten Armstrong plants in North America, employs 200+ people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers worldwide. The Pensacola Plant was originally built in 1929 to produce insulating building material.
